Protection Against the Evil Eye in Islam: Powerful Invocations - Dua
The evil eye, or “al-‘ayn” in Arabic, is a recognized reality in Islam, acknowledged as a force that can negatively influence individuals, their possessions, and their success. This truth was proclaimed by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) himself. In an authentic hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned believers to protect themselves from the evil eye.
He said, “The evil eye is real. If anything could overtake destiny, it would be the evil eye. When you come across something you admire, seek refuge in Allah from the envious one’s harm.“
To safeguard against the evil eye, Muslim believers turn to specific Arabic invocations supported by authentic hadiths. In this article, we will explore some of these key invocations and their use in warding off the evil eye.
1. Invocation - Dua for Protection Against the Evil Eye:
Arabic:
“بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ”
Transliteration: “Bismillahi allathi la yadurru ma’a ismihi shay’un fil-ard wa la fis-sama’i wa huwa as-sami’u al-‘alim.”
Translation: “In the name of Allah, the One whose name, when mentioned, can cause no harm in the heavens and on the earth, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever recites this invocation will be protected against the evil eye.” (Tirmidhi)
