The account of Abû ‘Abdillah ‘Uthmân ibn Abî Al-‘ṣ (may Allah be pleased with him) introduces a potent healing invocation. One day, when ‘Uthmân complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a pain he felt, the Prophet’s reply was both straightforward and potent: “Place your hand on the painful area and say three times: ‘In the name of Allah!’ Then, repeat seven times: ‘I seek refuge with Allah’s might and power from the evil I experience and fear.'”
In Arabic:
“بِسْمِ اللَّهِ”
Phonetic: “Bismillah” (Repeat three times) Followed by repeating seven times: In Arabic:
“أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ”
Phonetic: “A’oodhu bi ‘izzati Allahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhaadiru”
In Arabic:
“اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِنِي شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا”
Phonetic: “Allahumma shfini shifa’an la yughadiru saqaman.” Translation: “O Allah, heal me with a healing that leaves no ailment behind.”
