Move from pedagogical methods to classical works

Traditional nahw is intended for students who already have good grammatical foundations and want to study Arabic through classical works.

Students gradually become familiar with grammarians’ terminology, condensed formulations and analytical methods specific to traditional works.

  • Understand traditional nahw terminology.
  • Read matn texts and their commentaries.
  • Deepen i‘rab.
  • Analyse complex structures.
  • Prepare for independent reading of Arabic works.

Which work will you study?

The choice depends on the student’s level and the books already studied.

  • Al-Ajurrumiyya for a first introduction to traditional nahw.
  • Qatr An-Nada to deepen the foundations.
  • Shudhur adh-Dhahab for a higher level.
  • Alfiyya Ibn Malik for advanced study.
  • Mughni al-Labib for high-level students.
Important: the 96 hours do not necessarily correspond to the complete study of all these works. The teacher chooses the starting point according to the student’s actual level.

96 hours of traditional nahw

The pathway includes 96 hours of one-to-one lessons, at a rate of 2 hours per week.

Payment is spread over 12 monthly instalments of 8 hours.

  • 96 hours of private lessons.
  • 2 hours per week.
  • 12 monthly instalments of 8 hours.
  • 48 weeks as a teaching objective.
  • Work selected according to the student’s level.
  • Dedicated teacher.

A pathway that may continue beyond 96 hours

Traditional works may require long-term study. The 96 hours are therefore a training credit, not a promise to complete the entire classical progression.

Please note: once the credit has been used, the student may continue with a new credit if they wish to continue the work being studied or move on to the next one.

Follow-up and validation of the pathway

The teacher assesses the student’s ability to understand the rules, explain grammatical functions and analyse the examples and texts studied.

  • Continuous assessment during lessons.
  • Reading and understanding the text studied.
  • i‘rab exercises.
  • Analysis of Arabic passages.
  • Regular revision.
  • Academic validation of progress.
